- Remote OS Detection
Retina is now the first commercial vulnerability scanner to have a license to use the popular nmap (network mapping tool) OS fingerprint database. This gives Retina the ability to detect, through a few packets sent across a network, the remote operating system of any system being audited. This allows Retina to understand the system it is scanning so that it is able to reduce the number of possible false positives that may occur during a scan.
- Smarter Reporting
Retina now has the ability to change report text on the fly. Now, when generating a network report, the reporting text will change depending on how secure or insecure the scanned network is.

Retina now gives organizations the ability to add corporate logos and other company-specific information into reports.

Retina's new Audits Wizard offers users an easy way to create custom vulnerability checks simply by answering a series of questions.

Registered users of Retina now have the ability to use Retina's open API Using any programming language, developers can write completely customized auditing modules.
- New Vulnerability Checks
There have been numerous vulnerability audits added to Retina, including more than double the original number of Unix vulnerability checks.
